COUNSELING

I’m sure I mentioned my friend who had lost her way.  She had lost her way when it comes to handling money.  She is definitely not the one who I would let hold my purse.  She spends every penny she gets her hands on, and has not remorse.  That is, until lately.  Since she has been going to counseling, we are beginning to see little changes in her habits.  She has even put in the time with an attorney to see if she can file Chapter 7.  She asked us all over to dinner the other night, and asked us if we would all bring a dish or something to help make the dinner work.  That is a big difference in what she usually does on weekends, which is to go out someplace — to eat, to a movie, to dance, or whatever.  She told us she could not spend any more money, that she really didn’t have it.  That’s the first time we have ever heard her admit to not having money to spend.  It used to be that she would spend every penny she had, and then borrow as much as she could from anyone who would lend it to her.
